World’s Fastest Rejection?

I’ve written a picture book text called The First Time… a (hopefully) humorous story which will help to reassure young children regarding their first trip to the dentist’s. The pictures show the reality of a nice friendly surgery, and the boy’s wild imaginings of timthumb.phpbeing confronted by scary monsters etc. Anyway, I finished it and started sending it out to agents last week. Now, the good thing about most agents and publishers accepting things by e-mail these days is that it’s free and it’s quick. But sometimes it can be too quick.

I sent it to one agent at 11.20 a.m. and received a reply at 4.05 p.m. saying they’d “considered my proposal carefully” but no thanks. Admittedly, it’s an extremely short story, but still…

I won’t name them – I’m saving that till it becomes a best seller!

I once submitted a MS after 5pm one day and got rejected at 9am the next morning. So fast it actually made me laugh!

  2. They obviously took it home for bedtime reading!
