“I’m on my way…”

Does anyone else think that from a writer’s point of view, the invention of the mobile phone has been a nuisance? In writing of old, there was a great deal of tension in having characters far from help, people not knowing where they were, etc. etc.

Nowadays your hero can send for back-up, plot where he is using his GPS, slyly photograph suspects or secret documents in a way only well-equipped spies used to be able to do.

It’s sometimes all too easy!
