Green Knowe

I’m revisiting my childhood again and re-reading the Children of Green Knowe by Lucy Boston. I had vague memories of reading it when I was young but couldn’t recall any of the story – just that it had a very mysterious, magical quality to it. And in that regard I haven’t been disappointed. The writing is wonderful, and it has one of the most enchanting openings of any book – children’s or adult – I’ve ever read. It’s easy to see why this became a classic of children’s literature and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. If you’ve never read it, read it. If you have read it, read it again!
